The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has collaborated with several Egyptian organizations to launch the Women Entrepreneurs Network (WEN) in Egypt. This initiative aims to support Egyptian women interested in starting and managing their own businesses by providing training in financial literacy, access to online marketplaces, and general assistance.
The network was launched on November 18, with cooperation from the National Council for Women, Federation of Egyptian Industries, Alexandria Business Women Association, Business Women of Egypt 21, Entreprenelle, Etijah, Flat6Labs, and Nile University. It is designed as a platform for women entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to ensure that more women across Egypt receive essential services for entrepreneurial success.
During the launch event attended by over 200 women entrepreneurs and business figures, USAID/Egypt Mission Director Sherry F. Carlin stated: “We are confident that the Women Entrepreneurs Network will be a dynamic force in helping members achieve success by creating linkages among relevant stakeholders and services.”
Since 1978, USAID has invested nearly $30 billion in various projects across Egypt aimed at promoting health, education, employment opportunities, economic recovery, private sector growth, and an improved trade environment. The establishment of WEN is part of this ongoing effort.
