Thank you Dorothy, and welcome everyone,

Thomas Goldberger, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, addressed attendees during the July 4th celebration in Cairo. He expressed gratitude for the presence of colleagues, senior government officials, and Egyptian Armed Forces officers. "It is an honor and a pleasure for Eden and me, along with all our embassy colleagues, to have you with us this evening to celebrate 242 years of American freedom and independence," he stated.

Goldberger emphasized the importance of sharing American culture and traditions with Egyptian friends. The theme of the evening was “Fearless Women in America,” highlighting influential women like Susan B. Anthony, Rosa Parks, Serena Williams, Amelia Earhart, Sally Ride, Mae C. Jemison, Grace Hopper, and Katherine Johnson.

"Our menu tonight highlights the diverse and exciting culinary heritage of fearless American women," Goldberger mentioned while acknowledging contributions from culinary figures such as Fannie Farmer and Julia Child.

The event also featured an interactive mural by Aya Tarek from Alexandria titled “Fearless Women: They Took the World by Storm.” This work celebrates American innovators alongside a nod to Egypt’s cultural partnership with the U.S.

Goldberger underscored ongoing collaborations between Egypt and the United States in military ties, economic growth supported by American businesses, USAID initiatives launching new cooperative programs with Egyptian partners over the past year.

The Chargé d’Affaires concluded by looking forward to continued milestones between both nations while enjoying music from "Protocol Combo," expressing gratitude towards corporate sponsors including Hilton Heliopolis.
