The United States has expressed its solidarity with individuals worldwide in celebrating Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex (LGBTI) Pride Month. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo issued a statement reaffirming the nation's commitment to safeguarding the human rights of all people, including those identifying as LGBTI.

Pompeo highlighted ongoing challenges faced by LGBTI individuals globally. "In many parts of the world, LGBTI individuals and their supporters continue to face violence, arrest, harassment and intimidation for standing up for their human rights," he stated. He emphasized that these individuals should be able to enjoy fundamental freedoms such as expression and peaceful assembly without fear.

"As Americans," Pompeo noted, "we place a high value on these rights and freedoms, which all persons deserve to enjoy fully and equally." The statement underscored the importance of supporting LGBTI persons in exercising their rights.

The message concluded with well wishes for a safe and happy Pride Month: "The United States stands firmly with you as you exercise your human rights and fundamental freedoms."
