U.S. Charge d’Affaires Thomas Goldberger recently visited Minya, Egypt, as part of an event marking the 70th anniversary of the Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt. During his visit, Goldberger and members of the U.S. Embassy team met with Dr. Mustafa Abdel Nabi Abdel Rahman, President of Minya University, along with senior university staff. They attended a reception at the Minya University Museum of Fine Arts to highlight Fulbright's contributions to art and humanities in Egypt.

Goldberger also met with Governor Qasim Hussein to discuss political, economic, and social developments in Minya, which is home to nearly six million people. He outlined various initiatives by the U.S. Embassy in Minya, supported by USAID. These include projects in agriculture, water management, business development, tourism, health sectors, and English language teaching programs for high school students.

Additionally, Goldberger visited the Minya branch of the Egypt Public Library alongside Governor Hussein and interacted with graduates from the ACCESS English language program. This program offers two years of supplementary English education for thousands of Egyptian high school students.

Goldberger expressed appreciation for "the warm welcome and support from the people, university, and officials of Minya during this important visit."
