Egyptian entrepreneurs are being invited to apply for the 2019 Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), an event that brings together entrepreneurs, investors, and innovative thinkers. The summit will take place on June 4-5 in The Hague, Netherlands, hosted by the Governments of the Netherlands and the United States.
The summit aims to connect entrepreneurs with investment-ready projects or social enterprises seeking international expansion. U.S. Charge d’Affaires Thomas Goldberger expressed enthusiasm about Egyptian participation: “It’s been a great pleasure to meet the amazing Egyptian entrepreneurs who have participated in past Global Entrepreneurship Summits. I look forward to meeting what I am sure will be a strong Egypt team attending this year’s Summit and exploring how we can work with them, the Egyptian government and the private sector to continue to encourage innovation and economic growth to benefit all Egyptians.”
This year's GES expects around 2,000 participants, including 1,200 entrepreneurs, 400 investors, and 400 thought leaders from across the globe. The summit will focus on five key areas: agriculture, connectivity, energy, health, and water. Attendees will engage in discussions, pitch competitions, and matchmaking sessions aimed at fostering new collaborations and business ideas.
Entrepreneurs attending GES will receive food and accommodations for three nights at The Hague's World Forum but must cover their travel expenses unless they qualify for limited travel scholarships based on need. Investors interested in self-funding their attendance should contact Abi Olvera at OlveraAA@state.gov.
The U.S. Embassy encourages eligible Egyptian entrepreneurs to apply before March 1st.
