He described it as a "great symbol of hope" for Cairo, Egypt, and the entire Middle East.
Pompeo was asked about the role of secular governments in protecting religious minorities. He responded, "They have an obligation to make sure that every individual can choose to worship the way they want or choose not to worship in their own way."
He also commented on the beauty and significance of the new facility, stating, "The Lord is clearly at work here, and it is a very special thing to have this in the heart of the Middle East."
When questioned about Egypt's role as a land of peace, Pompeo affirmed its status as "a land of religious freedom and opportunity," calling it a "stunning testament to the Lord’s hand."
Regarding US-Egypt relations, Pompeo emphasized their strategic importance: "We have a fantastic strategic relationship. They’re an important partner of the United States in every element." He noted close cooperation between President Trump and President Sisi during Trump's time in office.
Pompeo concluded his remarks with gratitude: "Thank you all. Have a great day."
