In collaboration with San3a Tech/FabLab Egypt, the U.S. Embassy is supporting the fifth annual Maker Faire Cairo, scheduled for Saturday, March 2, at the Smart Village in Giza. The event will showcase presentations by leaders of the international "Maker" movement, featuring 250 makers and more than 30 activities and competitions. Attendees can expect ten panel discussions and four performances across two stages throughout the day.
"The Maker Faire is a celebration of invention, creativity, and curiosity," stated U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Thomas Goldberger. He added that "Cairo boasts the best of the global Maker Movement, and the U.S. Embassy is proud to support creative solutions to everyday challenges with an eye toward developing an entrepreneurial spirit."
The Faire invites individuals of all ages and backgrounds to participate in hands-on activities designed to engage minds and make learning enjoyable. It brings together talented "makers" from Egypt and neighboring regions to display their creations and discuss how they integrate creativity with emerging technologies.
The event will be open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm at the Smart Village on Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road in Giza. Tickets are available for purchase online or at the venue. Additional information about the event, including project descriptions and a schedule of speakers, can be found at makerfairecairo.com or on FabLab's Facebook page.
