Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo recently visited the Al Fattah Al Alim Mosque in Egypt's New Administrative Capital. During his visit, he highlighted the significance of religious freedom in the region.

Pompeo remarked on the architectural beauty and spiritual importance of both the mosque and a new cathedral he toured. He emphasized, "It is truly a testament to the Egyptian people, the capacity to exercise their faith and their freedoms here in these houses of worships, these big, gorgeous, beautiful buildings where the Lord is clearly at work."

He also acknowledged President Sisi's role in promoting such freedoms. "It’s incredibly important that President Sisi has permitted these kinds of freedoms," Pompeo stated. He expressed his amazement at witnessing opportunities for religious freedom available in Cairo and throughout the Middle East.

The event concluded without questions from reporters.
