The U.S. Embassy in Ghana has announced the participation of five Ghanaian entrepreneurs at the 2016 Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) in Palo Alto, California. The summit is scheduled from June 22 to June 24, 2016. The selected delegates include Elizabeth Swaniker, a sculptor; Emmanuel Addai, a software entrepreneur; Mabel Suglo, a student and social entrepreneur; Kwaku Asmah, an electrical engineer; and Ernest Gavor, a social entrepreneur and innovator.
These individuals will join over 700 entrepreneurs from across the globe. They will also have the opportunity to engage with high-ranking U.S. government officials such as President Barack Obama, Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, Administrator of the Small Business Administration Maria Contreras-Sweet, Administrator of USAID Gayle Smith, Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues Catherine Russell, and Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Richard Stengel.
The summit marks its seventh edition and has previously been hosted by countries including Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Morocco, and Kenya. By hosting this year's event in the United States again, President Obama emphasizes his dedication to fostering international collaboration to address global challenges.
GES 2016 aims to highlight inspiring entrepreneurs and investors worldwide who are creating new opportunities for investment and collaboration. It seeks to connect American entrepreneurs with their international counterparts to form lasting relationships. Additionally, it underscores entrepreneurship as a means to tackle significant global issues.
Participants will benefit from various workshops, panels, ignite talks, pitch competitions, mentoring sessions, and networking opportunities designed to enhance their skills and business ventures. The summit will also feature demonstration areas and experiential learning exhibitions where attendees can interact with industry experts.
