Melinda Tabler-Stone, the U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) Annex. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Power Hon. John Jinapor, Acting Executive Secretary of the Ghana Energy Commission Mr. Michael Opam, and ECREEE Secretary General Mr. Mahama Kappiah.

In her remarks, Tabler-Stone expressed satisfaction at representing the U.S. government at the opening of the SE4ALL Annex. She acknowledged the efforts of those involved in making this project a reality and congratulated both the Energy Commission and the ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency on their achievements.

Tabler-Stone highlighted Ghana's challenges with reliable and affordable energy, noting its impact on economic growth. She referenced President Obama's 2013 Power Africa initiative, aimed at increasing access to power across Africa, including collaboration between USAID, ECREEE, and national energy institutions like Ghana’s Energy Commission to promote private sector investment in clean energy.

The establishment of the ECREEE/SE4ALL Annex is a joint effort by USAID, ECREEE, and Ghana's Energy Commission. It will house both the Power Africa Clean Energy Transactions Adviser funded by USAID and the SE4ALL Country Coordinator. This annex aims to enhance coordination among staff and programs to support regional renewable energy policies.

Tabler-Stone emphasized pride in partnering with ECREEE and Ghana’s Energy Commission. She looks forward to ongoing cooperation to improve energy security, advance economic growth, and reduce poverty.
