Reliable power supply is crucial for maintaining a well-functioning infrastructure. A key component in sustainable power distribution is switchgear, which plays an essential role in substations by connecting power generators and large consumers, such as industrial plants or data centers, to the grid. Switchgear also monitors and protects power grids against issues like short circuits.

Siemens has introduced its blueGIS portfolio that uses Clean Air as an insulating medium. This medium consists of natural components of ambient air, making it climate-friendly, stable, non-toxic, non-flammable, and suitable for all operating temperatures. The blue GIS switchgear is equipped with smart sensors and standardized interfaces for Electrification X.

Electrification X is part of Siemens Xcelerator, a comprehensive IoT suite offering solutions to challenges faced by public and private power grid operators. It aims to improve energy efficiency and enable seamless digital and sustainable transformation.

"Reliablepower supply is essential to a well-functioning infrastructure," said Andy Kollegger, CEO of EWD Elektrizitätswerk Davos AG. Valérie Favre-Accola, Governor of Davos, Matthias Rebellius, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG and CEO Siemens Smart Infrastructure were present at the event.

The Clean Air technology in the blueGIS portfolio represents a significant step forward in creating environmentally friendly power distribution systems.
