The World Bank has approved a $100 million financing initiative to support Togo's digital transformation. This funding, part of the International Development Association's projects, aims to enhance growth, job creation, and competitiveness through digital technologies.

The project will connect approximately 8,000 public institutions to broadband and provide over one million people with improved Internet access. It will also leverage private sector financing to extend connectivity to households and businesses. The collaboration with the International Finance Corporation will strengthen digital skills and boost the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

"This initiative is a game-changer for Togo, as we connect our schools, health facilities, and public institutions to very high-speed internet," said Cina Lawson, Togolese Minister of Digital Economy and Transformation. "By empowering our youth with digital skills and fostering an environment for entrepreneurship, we are laying the groundwork for a more competitive and resilient economy."

This effort aligns with Togo's Development Roadmap and the World Bank Group’s Country Partnership Framework for Togo. It aims to bridge existing digital divides, promote inclusive growth, create quality jobs, and improve competitiveness.

“By focusing on digital technologies, we aim to support the Government’s strategy to accelerate the country’s economic transformation," stated Fily Sissoko, World Bank Resident Representative for Togo.
