Standard Chartered hosted its inaugural Global Family Network Forum in Hong Kong, bringing together around 200 international clients and guests from regions including Greater China, Southeast Asia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Among these were 80 ultra high-net-worth (UHNW) families, with 50 families traveling from overseas for the event.

The private gathering titled “Connecting families, celebrating life’s work” began with a gala dinner on October 15th and continued with a full-day conference on October 16th. The event aimed to facilitate discussions among UHNW families about topics significant to their wealth journeys and offered networking opportunities.

Paul Chan, Financial Secretary for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, addressed attendees at the gala dinner. He highlighted Hong Kong's status as Asia’s leading international financial center and asset management hub. "A world of ultra-high-net-worth families and individuals have gathered in Hong Kong for a good reason," Chan stated. He emphasized that family offices could find unique advantages in Hong Kong due to its diverse investment offerings and strong support under "one country, two systems."

Other notable speakers included Olivier Krug of Krug Champagne; Noni Purnomo of Blue Bird Group; Justin Rockefeller of The ImPact; Sam Kennedy of Fenway Sports Group; David Bijlsma of GASSAN; Winnie Chiu of Dorsett Hospitality International; and Krishna Chokhani of Chokhani Group.

Hong Kong was selected as the first location for Standard Chartered’s Global Family Network Forum due to its role as one of four wealth hubs serving UHNW individuals' needs alongside Singapore, Dubai, and London. Bill Winters, Group Chief Executive at Standard Chartered, commented on the bank's commitment: “As a connector bank... we are committed to investing in our affluent and UHNW capabilities.”

The forum included several government officials and key members from Standard Chartered's management team such as Raymond Ang, Tanuj Kapilashrami, Judy Hsu, Christopher Hui, Ben Hung, Salina Yan, Mary Huen, Alex Manson along with Paul Chan.
