The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), recognized globally for their credibility, were announced on December 16, Taipei time. Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index for six consecutive years. The company excelled among over 600 global firms, securing first place three times in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) within the Diversified Financial Services and Capital Markets category, alongside S&P Global Inc. and UBS.
The DJSI employs frameworks based on environment, society, and governance (ESG) to design industry-specific questionnaires. These are used to invite qualified companies into a selection process that is annually updated according to international trends. Yuanta FHC's performance was notable in areas such as Occupational Health and Safety, Materiality, Policy Influence, and Human Rights, with nearly 80% of its topics ranking in the top one percent of its group. "Yuanta FHC continues to refine and put relevant actions into practice," including developing an Occupational Safety and Health Policy to enhance management effectiveness and ensure workplace safety.
To manage procurement risks effectively, Yuanta FHC has optimized its supplier self-assessment mechanism across six categories: human rights, labor practices, consumers, integrity management, environment, and health and safety. All subsidiaries have adopted ISO 20400 sustainable procurement guidelines to systematically manage suppliers and strengthen supply chain resilience.
Yuanta FHC leverages financial influence to engage stakeholders in transitioning towards low-carbon economies. Its subsidiary Yuanta Funds works with investee companies on carbon reduction targets while Yuanta Bank promotes sustainability-linked loans encouraging green operations. This aligns with the "climate finance" focus highlighted at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29).
Additionally, Yuanta FHC has implemented corporate carbon management strategies since 2020 by introducing an internal carbon pricing mechanism—being Taiwan's first financial institution to price greenhouse gas emissions by "internalizing external costs." The company was named among Financial Times' 2024 Asia-Pacific Climate Leaders and Business Weekly’s 2024 Carbon Competitiveness 100.
As part of Taiwan's Sustainability National Team’s Coalition of Movers and Shakers on Sustainable Finance, Yuanta FHC assumed chairmanship this month. It made pledges for net-zero emissions, sustainable finance initiatives, and talent cultivation while continuing efforts as a sustainability leader in Taiwan.
