The Republic of Korea's journey from a low-income to a high-income nation serves as an example of how digital innovation can drive economic growth. Recognizing the potential to share its expertise, the Government of the Republic of Korea and the World Bank Group have decided to create a joint Digital Knowledge Center.
This initiative was officially announced by Korea’s First Vice Minister of Economy and Finance, Beomseok Kim, and World Bank’s Managing Director of Operations, Anna Bjerde. The announcement took place in Seoul on December 6, 2024.
The collaboration aims to disseminate Korea’s knowledge in digital transformation globally, particularly focusing on low-income countries where the digital divide is significant.
"Through this partnership, the World Bank Group and the Republic of Korea aim to share Korea’s expertise, knowledge, and capabilities in digital transformation with countries around the world," stated officials involved in the project.
