The most innovative startups and scaleups in the health sector were recognized at an awards ceremony organized by Banco Santander, in collaboration with Hitachi and Oxentia Foundation. The global competition spanned five months across 11 countries, identifying pioneering healthcare solutions. Winners received a share of 120,000 euros.

In the Startup category, UK-based Cardiology Devices secured first place for its innovative device designed to treat advanced heart conditions, particularly benefiting the elderly. BioTryp Therapeutics, also from the UK, took second place with its technology offering an alternative to traditional antibiotics for treating infections. Third place went to Feyenally from Poland, which developed a mobile app for remote eye examinations.

Mendelian from the UK won the Scaleup category with an algorithm that aids doctors in early detection of rare diseases by encoding criteria for over 100 hard-to-diagnose conditions. CanCertain Limited, another UK-based company, was runner-up for its personalized cancer treatment tests using 3D cell culture technology. Spain's Bitbrain came third with its neurotechnology devices that utilize AI-powered software for EEG brain and body monitoring.
