After years of challenging negotiations, the European Union and Mercosur have reached a political agreement. This development is seen as a significant step for businesses and consumers on both sides of the Atlantic. BusinessEurope Director General Markus J. Beyrer commented on this progress.
"In a world increasingly marked by protectionism and rising geopolitical risks, the EU is sending a positive signal: it remains committed to open, rules-based trade," Beyrer stated. He emphasized the importance of market diversification for enhancing the EU's economic resilience and mitigating international uncertainties.
Beyrer further noted that "the political conclusion of the EU-Mercosur agreement marks an important achievement early in this new institutional cycle, delivering on one of the key trade priorities for both the economy and citizens."
