The startup Bio24 Social from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has been awarded the people's choice award as part of the KfW Entrepreneurs' Award. This recognition comes with a prize of EUR 5,000. The company had previously been named state winner at an awards ceremony held on November 7. Bio24 Social's initiative focuses on using cooking and baking to address loneliness.

Bio24 Social aims to enhance community spirit in rural areas through various services and activities designed to revitalize communities and strengthen social bonds. The team, primarily composed of senior citizens, numbers 25 members who produce regional products based on traditional recipes such as soups and jams. These products are sold in village stores, online, and through food retailers. Additionally, the startup organizes regular cooking classes, game nights, and a weekly bar event.

On November 7, the KfW Entrepreneurs’ Award recognized innovative companies across Germany by awarding one company from each federal state with EUR 1,000 in prize money. All state winners were eligible for the people’s choice award, with public voting open until November 29.
