Siemens and Tietoevry have announced a collaboration to enhance the digitalization of the power utility sector in the Nordic region. This partnership aims to support energy transition efforts by improving grid infrastructure management through advanced technology solutions.

Tietoevry, known for its work in the energy domain, focuses on providing next-generation solutions that aim to digitalize the value chain, improve customer experience, and enhance business performance. By partnering with Siemens, Tietoevry intends to offer a broader range of IT services to grid operators in the Nordics. This will aid in integrating renewable energy sources and increasing grid capacity while maintaining resilient infrastructure.

Magnus Torronen, Head of Siemens Grid Software in Northern Europe, stated: “The ongoing energy transition requires significant changes to the existing grid infrastructure and how it is managed. Due to the electrification of everything and rapid growth of distributed energy resources, companies need to think about new ways of working and collaborating. We need to look across sectors and the ecosystem, leverage the strengths of different organizations, and collaborate to successfully and quickly meet our net zero targets. Partnering with Tietoevry enables us to support utilities in a completely new way.”

Niko Jauhiainen, Head of Asset & Data Solutions at Tietoevry's Energy & Utilities division, commented on the partnership: “The partnership, leveraging Siemens expertise and the Gridscale X software platform, helps us add more capabilities to our next-generation solutions supporting our utility customers in grid life-cycle management and addressing challenges related to grid flexibility.”

Gridscale X is a modular software offered by Siemens as part of its open digital business platform called Siemens Xcelerator. It is designed for autonomous grid management and assists operators in accelerating their digital transformation efficiently.
