On October 19, the "Big FUN Ketagalan Boulevard - Children's Future City" event took place at Ketagalan Boulevard, attracting many families. Vice President Bi-khim Louise Hsiao, Premier Jung-tai Cho, and Taipei Mayor Wayne Chiang attended alongside various ministry leaders. They expressed their appreciation for the event's design and support for children's rights advocacy. Elected officials committed to ongoing oversight to ensure that children's rights promoted during the event are reflected in future policy planning.
A notable feature of the event was the "Secret Base," showcasing high-quality Taiwanese children's programs recognized both domestically and internationally. These programs allowed families to connect with outstanding works from Taiwan.
The exhibition highlighted several acclaimed Taiwanese children's programs such as "Whispers," "Having Fun in the Mountains," "Man to Man," "WAWA!," and "Genius Chef Junior." The program "Learning with Mouth and Nose" recently won a Golden Bell for Best Children's Program Host. Additionally, "Ocean Diary" received a Golden Bell for Best Children's Program, while the interactive show "WhoGuPo" is on display at Kaohsiung Dream Reality Exhibition.
Taiwanese programs have gained international recognition, with "Having Fun in the Mountains" winning the 2024 Prix Jeunesse International First Prize. This marks Taiwan's first time receiving this honor in internationally recognized children's programming. Both "Ocean Diary" and "Whispers" secured second prizes at this festival, with additional accolades such as Best Children's Film Award at the American Wildlife and Nature Film Festival for "Ocean Diary." Furthermore, “Whispers” was nominated at both Chicago Children’s Film Festival and NHK Japan Prize 2024.
Parents attending the exhibition were impressed by these performances, appreciating their entertainment value and educational significance. Many encountered Taiwanese-made children’s programs for the first time and expressed eagerness for more local productions.
The Fubon Cultural & Educational Foundation has long been dedicated to advancing media education for children and youth. Recently focusing on talent development within children’s film and television sectors, they initiated innovative original programming through projects like “momo mini incubation program.” Notable collaborations include “Having Fun in the Mountains” with Hakka TV, “Ocean Diary” with Public Television Service, among others—receiving over twenty nominations across international film festivals.
Irene Chen from Fubon Cultural & Educational Foundation emphasized that Taiwan's children’s programs should reflect local experiences while possessing global perspectives conveying universal values of global citizenship. Minister of Culture Lee Yuan expressed excitement about these achievements on global stages promising continued government support fostering healthier environments within children’s media industry.
Despite light rain during “Big FUN Ketagalan Boulevard,” enthusiasm remained undampened as night fell marking commencement of momo mini family theater led by Brother Tree & Sister Crystal engaging kids through dance themed around “WhoGuPo.” Families enjoyed magical movie-watching experiences together before Presidential Office backdrop on Ketagalan Boulevard.
