Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — The World Bank Group has appointed Judith Green as the Country Manager for Malaysia. This new position aims to streamline leadership at the country level, supporting both public and private sector priorities in Malaysia. It serves as a single point of contact for the full range of World Bank Group services, enhancing its ability to address global challenges and promote development efficiently.

"Malaysia has successfully diversified its economy from one dependent on agriculture and commodities to value-added manufacturing and services sectors, which have driven economic growth," said Ms. Green. "Expanding our engagement with both the public and private sectors under this new leadership approach will enable us to better support Malaysia in its development ambitions."

Based in Kuala Lumpur, Ms. Green operates from the World Bank Group Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Finance Hub. This hub supports Malaysia's development goals through knowledge sharing, investment, and advisory assistance while facilitating knowledge exchanges between Malaysia and other developing countries.

A Jamaican national, Ms. Green previously served as Country Manager for the Pacific Islands, Papua New Guinea, Australia, and New Zealand at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group focused on private sector development in emerging markets. Before that role, she managed operations for IFC in the Caribbean region.

Ms. Green also worked with Jamaica's Ministry of Finance and Planning from 2013 to 2016 as Director of the Coordination and Implementation Unit. Her extensive experience includes roles in capital markets and corporate banking with RBC Bank Jamaica and Citigroup.

The move towards joint country representation is a significant step for the World Bank Group. Malaysia is among 21 offices transitioning to a unified Country Manager or Resident Representative model across various branches including IBRD, IDA, IFC, and MIGA.

The World Bank Group aims to create a world free of poverty on a sustainable planet by providing financing, advice, and innovative solutions across more than 100 countries.
