World Bank hosts youth art exhibition showcasing visions for Bangladesh

DHAKA, November 23, 2024 — The World Bank has launched an exhibition featuring wall art created by students and youths from across Bangladesh. This event, titled ‘Paint Your Sky, Make it Yours: Future Bangladesh in the eyes of the youth,’ was inaugurated by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.

The exhibition showcases artwork from 12 districts including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, Chattogram, Barishal, Cumilla, Rangpur, Rangamati, Khagrachari, and Bandarban. These pieces reflect the hopes and aspirations of young people for a prosperous and inclusive future for Bangladesh.

Abdoulaye Seck, World Bank Country Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan stated: “The World Bank has always recognized the key role that youth play in shaping the present and the future. We are committed to empowering youth around the globe.” He added that Bangladeshi students have used their creativity to communicate their vision for the country through this exhibition.

The exhibition is open at DrikPath Bhaban in Dhaka from November 23 to November 30 between 3 pm and 8 pm daily. A publication and video were also launched during the opening ceremony.

The World Bank has been a significant partner for Bangladesh since its independence. Over five decades, it has committed more than $44 billion in International Development Association (IDA) financing through grants and loans to support development priorities. With nearly $16 billion currently financing 52 ongoing projects, Bangladesh hosts the largest IDA program globally.
