A partnership between Sun Life and Tribal Wi-Chi-Way-Win Capital Corporation (TWCC) is set to create over 175 jobs in Winnipeg. The collaboration involves TWCC providing Contact Centre services for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), expanding TWCC's Contact Centre and offering new employment opportunities in Winnipeg and Manitoba.

Alan Park, CEO of TWCC, emphasized the mutual benefits of this partnership, stating, "This is a true win-win; not only for the organization but also for Manitobans and the Indigenous community. We believe this partnership and our continued engagement with our partners brings us one step closer to achieving economic equality."

Since its inception, TWCC has hired more than 175 individuals, ensuring that at least 33% of employees identify as Indigenous. The organization aims to support communities through economic development and creating positive impacts.

Dave Jones, President of Sun Life Health, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: "We're thrilled to be partnering with an organization that is committed to delivering real and lasting change for the Indigenous community."

The partnership aligns with Sun Life's commitment to Indigenous Nations and organizations. It focuses on fostering prosperity in Indigenous communities by investing in talent and partnerships.

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) aims to make dental care more affordable for Canadians without dental insurance. Administered by Sun Life, it covers over 2.7 million Canadians with participation from more than 22,340 oral health providers.

Minister of Health Mark Holland remarked on the significance of the expanded contact centre team: "The Canadian Dental Care Plan has helped more than one million Canadians to date receive the critical oral health care they need."

Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, highlighted the government's commitment to reconciliation through increased participation of Indigenous businesses: "The Canadian Dental Care Plan is delivering on that commitment through a partnership between Sun Life and Tribal Wi-Chi-Way-Win Capital Corporation."

TWCC is wholly owned by Five Manitoba Tribal Councils and several Independent Manitoba First Nations. Established in 1993, it provides business services across Canada from its headquarters in Winnipeg.

Sun Life operates internationally in various markets including Canada, the United States, Asia-Pacific countries among others. As of September 30, 2024, it managed assets totaling $1.51 trillion.
