Matt Law, chief commercial officer at Outlier Ventures, discussed the potential applications of crypto technologies during his talk at Binance Blockchain Week. He highlighted "composability, programmability," and "fractionalization" as interesting developments for off-chain sectors.
"Looking ahead, I think thinking about composability, programmability, fractionalization—all these things that are sort of fundamental crypto general-purpose technology benefits—how they get applied to the whole rest of the world that is not currently on-chain is very, very interesting," said Law.
With the tokenized asset market projected to grow from $1.5 trillion to $16.1 trillion by 2030, as forecasted by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in 2023, the outlook for borderless, on-chain investments appears promising.
According to a 2023 BCG report, real estate tokenization alone could contribute up to $3.2 trillion to the overall market. By enhancing liquidity, simplifying operations, and enabling borderless access, tokenization is transforming investor engagement with high-value assets and fostering more inclusive global markets.
Traditional alternative investments often require minimum investments exceeding $250,000, creating barriers for many individuals. Bain & Company suggests that tokenization can reduce these minimum investment amounts to as low as $1,000. This change could "broaden the investor base significantly" and allow more individuals to participate in high-value asset markets. The democratization of access may lead to a more inclusive financial system.
Law has over 20 years of experience in the digital industry and is also the founder of Move78, a creative capital studio. He advises ventures in distributed computing, media, artificial intelligence (AI), financial technology (fintech), and the Internet of Things (IoT), including Outlier Ventures, Boson Protocol, Fetch.ai, and Brave Bison.
