The Fubon Senior Open, a key event on the Taiwan Senior PGA Tour, is set to commence its 22nd edition at the Taiwan Golf & Country Club on November 13. This year's tournament will feature an expanded field of 120 players from both domestic and international circuits, competing for a prize pool of NT$6 million.

Tony Hsieh, a prominent figure in Taiwanese golf, alongside defending champion Thaworn Wiratchant from Thailand and other notable golfers such as Kuramoto Masahiro from Japan and three-time winner Lu Wen-teh, engaged with young amateur golfers at the Fubon Youth Heritage Camp. This initiative aims to pass on valuable golfing knowledge to the younger generation.

Daniel Tsai, Chairman of Fubon Group, and Tony Hsieh founded this senior golf event in 2002 with "heritage" as its core tradition. During the Fubon Heritage Pro-am event, experienced professionals paired with standout amateurs recommended by the Tony Hsieh Golf Foundation. The young players gained insights into various aspects of professional golf.

Tony Hsieh emphasized the importance of practice for young golfers, drawing inspiration from a Chinese Olympic gold medalist diver's rigorous training routine. "I heard a female Chinese Olympic gold medalist diver makes it a rule to dive 400 times every day. I hope everyone learns from her," he said.

Last year’s competition saw Wiratchant clinch victory after tying with Singapore’s Mardan Mamat at 2-under 214 and winning in a playoff. He attributed his success to staying calm under pressure and accumulating experience.

Lu Wen-teh shared his experiences dealing with sports injuries and advised young players to strengthen their muscles through swimming to prevent similar issues.

The tournament organizers announced that all top-30 ranked players from the 2023 TSPGA order of merit will participate this week. Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng is considered a strong contender following his recent win in Japan.

Spectators can attend without tickets or watch live coverage online. The super senior category for players aged 65 and older will begin on Thursday.

Live coverage will be available on the official Fubon YouTube channel on November 14 and 15.
