Representatives from Pacific Island countries recently visited the Philippines to participate in a Labor Mobility Study Visit and Knowledge Exchange. The event, held from September 23 to 27, 2024, aimed to facilitate the exchange of information and strategies related to labor mobility.

The first day focused on integrating migration and development into the Philippine Development Plan. Participants received an overview of various Pacific labor mobility schemes. Country-specific presentations were made for Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, and Tonga.

The third day included a visit to the Magsaysay Training Centre in the Philippines. This facility plays a significant role in training workers for overseas employment opportunities.

On the fourth day, attendees visited the Republic of the Philippines Department of Migrant Workers Regional Office IV-A Calabarzon. They also explored public employment services in the City of Calamba.

This study visit was designed to share knowledge and experiences between nations facing similar challenges related to labor mobility and migration.
