Siemens is expanding access to industrial AI with its new offerings, including the Industrial Operations X and NVIDIA-accelerated industrial PCs. Rainer Brehm, CEO of Factory Automation at Siemens, emphasized the importance of high-performance systems for digital transformation: “Customers driving their digital transformation need high-performance industrial-grade systems. Our new offerings accelerate the next-level AI-based applications.” He also noted that these advancements make industrial AI accessible to companies of all sizes.
Rev Lebaredian, Vice President of Omniverse and Simulation Technology at NVIDIA, highlighted the impact of this collaboration: “Supercharged by NVIDIA accelerated computing and AI technologies, Siemens’ leading portfolio of industrial automation solutions will enable the world’s manufacturers to reach new heights of digitalization and deliver incredible efficiencies and agility.”
The newly launched Simatic IPC BX-35A integrates a GPU by NVIDIA. These Siemens IPCs are certified as NVIDIA-Certified Systems, ready for deployment with various applications built on NVIDIA NIM microservices and edge AI frameworks such as NVIDIA Isaac ROS, Holoscan, and Metropolis. The devices are designed to endure harsh industrial conditions while maintaining a compact form factor.
Among the new products is the embedded IPC Simatic BX-35A, based on NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX systems-on-modules (SoMs), which offers high-performance AI computing in a low-power and fan-less design. Other models include the Simatic IPC RW-545A workstation, Simatic IPC RS-828A server for production datacenters, and Simatic IPC BX-59A modular Box PC.
The Simatic IPC BX-59A provides an end-to-end solution for seamless AI integration in industrial environments. It features a robust AI Inference Server GPU accelerated by NVIDIA’s Triton™ Inference Server technology. This setup allows customers to deploy AI models without coding expertise. With these innovations, Siemens reports a 25-fold acceleration in AI execution on the shop floor.
All Simatic IPCs can be equipped with Siemens’ Simatic Industrial OS, a real-time Debian-based operating system preinstalled with NVIDIA AI software for rapid deployment of industrial applications.
At the SPS trade show in Nuremberg, Siemens and NVIDIA will host a joint panel discussion focusing on trends in industrial artificial intelligence. Rev Lebaredian from NVIDIA and Rainer Brehm from Siemens will discuss their ongoing collaboration and future prospects for industry with AI. This session is scheduled at the Siemens booth on Wednesday, November 13th at 12:00 noon CET.
