ANZ has announced the appointment of Paul Goodwin as the US Country Head. Based in New York, Mr. Goodwin will report to Farhan Faruqui, Group Executive International. He is expected to begin his new role after receiving regulatory approval.
Mr. Goodwin has been with ANZ for 16 years and currently serves as Managing Director, Institutional for New Zealand. Before joining ANZ, he held senior corporate finance roles at Credit Suisse in the UK and the National Bank of New Zealand.
Farhan Faruqui commented on the appointment: “Under Paul’s leadership our New Zealand Institutional business has consolidated a leading market position, topping league tables across nearly all products." He added, “I am confident his strong leadership and deep experience managing complex customer relationships will be a great contributor to the strength of our US business.”
Faruqui also noted the significance of the US market: “The US is an important market in ANZ’s global network and remains key to our strategy of facilitating trade and capital flows across our home markets and Asia Pacific.”
ANZ has maintained a presence in the US for over 50 years, establishing a strong client base and significant market share within the US corporate sector in Australia.
Mr. Goodwin succeeds Grant Knuckey, who recently assumed the role of Chief Risk Officer for ANZ New Zealand and Pacific. The process to replace Mr. Goodwin in New Zealand is underway, with an announcement pending local regulatory approval.
