ANZ has announced a financial support package for customers and businesses impacted by recent storms and floods in Victoria. The severe weather, including high winds and flash flooding, has affected communities such as Gippsland, causing damage to homes and power outages. The Victorian State Emergency Service reported it was the busiest 24-hour period in its history.
The bank is urging affected customers to reach out when ready to explore various financial relief options. These may include short-term payment relief on home loans, credit cards, personal loans, and some business loans—though interest may still apply during this period. ANZ is also waiving fees for restructuring business loans and accessing term deposits early.
Cameron Home, ANZ's general manager for Victoria and Tasmania, stated: “These storms have left hundreds of residents affected, with significant damage to their homes or businesses. People in these communities are going to need help and support to get back on their feet.”
He added: “As our customers begin the recovery process, we hope these relief measures will assist in what is a very difficult time.”
Customers are encouraged to contact their local branch or relationship manager to discuss how the floods have impacted their circumstances. They can also reach ANZ’s dedicated financial hardship team at 1800 149 549 or visit anz.com.au/support/natural-disaster-support/.
Those with ANZ Home and Contents Insurance might be eligible for emergency funds and temporary accommodation. To lodge an insurance claim, customers can call 13 16 14 or visit anz.com/insuranceclaims.
