ANZ has announced a financial support package for customers and businesses affected by recent floods along Australia's east coast. The heavy rainfall has impacted communities on the mid-north coast and Hunter region of New South Wales, with Sydney also facing potential flooding.
The bank is urging affected customers to reach out when ready to explore various financial support options. These include pausing payments for up to three months on home loans, credit cards, personal loans, and some business loans, although interest may still accrue during this period. ANZ is also offering temporary interest rate reductions for those in severe financial distress and waiving fees for restructuring business loans or accessing term deposits early.
Michael Wake, ANZ's general manager for New South Wales, stated: “These floods have left hundreds of residents stranded with many having to be rescued from their homes and cars. The communities affected will be left to pick up the pieces in the aftermath.” He added that the relief measures are intended to assist people during this challenging time.
Customers are encouraged to visit local branches if possible or contact their relationship managers to discuss how their circumstances have been impacted. They can also reach out to ANZ’s financial hardship team at 1800 149 549 or online at anz.com.au/support/natural-disaster-support/.
For those with ANZ Home and Contents Insurance, emergency funds and temporary accommodation may be available. Insurance claims can be lodged by calling 13 16 14 or visiting anz.com/insuranceclaims.
