Applications are now open for ANZ's Community Foundation program, offering grants of up to $30,000 to charitable organizations across Australia. These grants aim to support projects that enhance financial wellbeing, housing access, environmental sustainability, and other community initiatives.
In 2020, ANZ awarded a total of $250,000 to 16 community organizations. Since its inception in 1988, the program has distributed over 880 grants valued at $5.6 million.
This year, the foundation is again providing approximately $250,000 for projects that focus on improving financial wellbeing for under-represented and disadvantaged groups. This includes initiatives that build financial literacy and vocational skills or provide access to meaningful work. Environmental sustainability efforts are also supported through projects aimed at conserving natural resources and reducing carbon emissions. Additionally, the foundation supports housing access programs for those experiencing homelessness or living with disabilities.
Sarah Stubbings, Chair of the Foundation, stated: “It’s fantastic to see ANZ staff contributing some of their pay each week to make a difference to the lives of people and communities across the country, particularly following a really difficult year."
She added: “We are pleased to support the charitable sector every year; however it has never been more important for some of these organisations with restrictions on fundraising events, volunteering drives and in-person programs really limiting the amount of money raised over the past year.”
Applications remain open until April 16th. A National Advisory Board and State Committees consisting of ANZ employees will decide on grant allocations annually. The foundation is funded by workplace giving donations along with ANZ double-matching employee contributions.
