Applications are now open for the ANZ Seeds of Renewal program, offering grants of up to $15,000 for not-for-profit organizations in remote, rural, and regional areas. The initiative aims to support the ongoing prosperity of regional Australia.
Since its inception in 2003, and under the administration of the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR), the program has distributed over $5 million to more than 800 community groups. These funds have supported local projects aimed at building vibrant and sustainable rural and regional communities.
This year, ANZ is committing a total of $250,000 to be shared among community organizations in remote areas. The focus will be on projects that enhance environmental sustainability by restoring natural environments or reducing carbon emissions; improve financial wellbeing through initiatives that promote economic participation; and increase housing access for those at risk of homelessness or living with disabilities.
ANZ General Manager Business Banking Jenefer Stewart remarked: “The ANZ Seeds of Renewal program has been providing grants to regional and rural Australia for nearly 20 years. Each year I look forward to seeing the difference the grants are able to make in these communities, many of which find it difficult to access the resources they need to grow, develop and prosper."
Last year's funding saw grants awarded to 26 community groups. Projects included regenerating bushfire-affected land on Kangaroo Island and providing crisis accommodation for indigenous communities in Gunnedah. Additionally, support was given towards economic empowerment initiatives for refugees placed in Bendigo.
FRRR CEO Natalie Egleton emphasized: “With the cumulative impacts of drought, fires, floods and COVID-19, raising funds locally is extremely challenging in smaller communities, so access to grants is more important than ever. We encourage community groups to consider the funding opportunity that Seeds of Renewal can provide to address local issues such as improving facilities available locally.”
Applications opened on July 8th and will close at 5 pm AEST on August 11th. More information about applying can be found on FRRR's website.
