ANZ has announced its commitment to assist Australians affected by the recent COVID-19 lockdowns in Victoria and tightened restrictions in New South Wales. The bank's Chief Executive Officer, Shayne Elliott, emphasized the importance of providing financial support during these challenging times.

"We know this is a challenging time for many people in these current lockdowns and we understand our customers will likely need some financial assistance," said Elliott. "We are ready to step up and help our customers again. We have an experienced team and a range of financial support measures for a variety of situations, as we know each customer’s circumstances are different."

Elliott encouraged those needing assistance to contact ANZ directly to discuss their specific situations. "Anyone who feels they might need some help should get in touch with ANZ to discuss their situation so we can understand how we can help. We know from experience that supporting each other is the best way to get through this and ANZ will do its part."

For business customers, ANZ offers various relief measures including up to 60 days repayment deferral on Australian business loans, waived merchant terminal rental fees for three months, and access to funds without notice periods or break fees from Business Notice Term Deposit and Farm Management Deposit accounts. These options are available for businesses with lending under $3 million and turnover below $5 million.

Retail customers facing new financial hardships may also benefit from reduced or paused home loan payments with arrears capitalized at the end of the assistance period.
