ANZ has introduced a financial relief package to support customers impacted by the ongoing bushfires in Western Australia's South-West, Great Southern, and Wheatbelt regions. These fires have resulted in significant damage to farms, homes, businesses, and bushland.
The bank urges affected customers to prioritize their safety but also encourages them to reach out for assistance through the relief measures available. These include short-term payment relief on various loans, waiving fees for restructuring business loans, and early access to term deposits without penalties.
Kathleen Jahour, ANZ General Manager for Western Australia, stated: “These fires have already destroyed a lot of farmland and residential properties in the district, and many of the fires remain uncontained at this stage creating extremely dangerous conditions for both residents and the firefighters who put so much on the line to protect the community.”
She added that when it is appropriate for people to focus on recovery and rebuilding efforts, ANZ hopes these measures will aid their customers during this challenging time.
Affected customers are advised to visit local branches or contact their relationship managers when possible. ANZ's financial hardship team can be reached at 1800 149 549 or through anz.com.au/support/natural-disaster-support/.
Customers with ANZ Home and Contents Insurance may qualify for emergency funds and temporary accommodation. Insurance claims can be lodged by calling 13 16 14 or visiting anz.com/insuranceclaims.
