ANZ has announced the appointment of Ranjit Roy as Head of the Middle East. He will report to Vishnu Shahaney, who is the Head of South East Asia, India and the Middle East, and Country Head Singapore.
Mr. Roy will be based in Dubai and will also continue his role as Head of Financial Institutions for the Middle East. In this capacity, he reports to Mark Harding, Head of Financial Institutions for South East Asia, India and the Middle East.
Simon Ireland, ANZ Managing Director International, stated: “Our Middle East presence plays an important role in helping our Institutional customers move goods and capital around the region.” He added that "Ranjit’s deep knowledge of the Middle East and the Financial Institutions sector will be key as our customers look to navigate the global economy as it emerges from the pandemic."
With a decade-long tenure at ANZ, Mr. Roy has been pivotal in expanding ANZ’s Financial Institutions business in the Middle East by fostering relationships with sovereign entities, commercial banks, central banks, and insurance companies.
Before joining ANZ, Mr. Roy held senior roles across various financial services sectors including institutional client coverage and transaction banking at global banks such as HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, Deutsche Bank, ABN AMRO and Royal Bank of Scotland.
Mr. Roy takes over from Rajesh Thapar following his retirement. His appointment is effective immediately.
