ANZ has announced the appointment of Mark Harding as the Global Head of its Financial Institutions Group (FIG). Harding will report directly to Simon Ireland, Managing Director, International. In his new role, Harding will oversee the bank's Financial Institutions client segment worldwide. This includes banks, funds, diversified financials, insurance companies, and government entities.
Harding joined ANZ in 2008 and has held various leadership roles in Melbourne, Sydney, and Singapore. His most recent position was as Head of FIG for South East Asia, India, and the Middle East. Before joining ANZ, he worked at RBS and Fortis Bank in London.
Simon Ireland commented on the appointment: “Mark is a highly experienced international banker who has been instrumental in establishing our FIG strategy across the region. He is able to balance profitable growth with a strong risk awareness while also strengthening our key client relationships. FIG is a priority sector for the Bank and under his leadership I’m confident it will go from strength to strength.”
Harding will remain based in Singapore and assumes his new responsibilities starting December 13, 2021. He succeeds Simon Ireland who recently took on the role of Managing Director, International.
