ANZ has expressed support for the New South Wales Government's recent announcement of a $1 billion assistance package aimed at aiding small to medium-sized businesses impacted by the Omicron variant. The scheme allows businesses to apply for reimbursement for Rapid Antigen Tests and offers financial assistance to those whose turnover decreased by 40 percent in January.

The government also extended the Commercial Landlord Hardship Grant, designed to help eligible landlords provide rental relief to small retail and commercial tenants during this period.

Isaac Rankin, ANZ Managing Director of Commercial and Private Banking, stated: “As small to medium (SMEs) sized businesses are continuing to navigate the current challenging COVID environment, much-needed support packages help provide them with more certainty to keep their staff safe and continue operating."

He further noted that many businesses face staffing and supply chain disruptions, with recent data showing a decline in consumer activity. "SMEs play a critical role in the Australian economy and their success is vital. Easy and simple access to finance will help drive investment and create jobs," Rankin added.

Rankin emphasized that ANZ remains committed to assisting SMEs with their banking needs during these challenging times. ANZ stands out as the only bank offering a digital application process, Go Biz, for both existing and new customers seeking loans under the Federal government's guaranteed loan scheme. If approved, funds can be available within two business days.
