ANZ and the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR) have distributed $250,000 in grants to 22 community groups and not-for-profit organizations in regional Australia. This funding is part of the ANZ Seeds of Renewal program, which aims to support remote, rural, and regional communities by enhancing environmental sustainability, financial wellbeing, and housing access.
Jenefer Stewart, ANZ General Manager Business Banking, expressed admiration for the innovative efforts of local groups: “Every year, we are impressed by the innovation and desire that these local groups have for the long-term stability and sustainability of their communities." She noted that over two decades, ANZ Seeds of Renewal has facilitated more than 800 community projects.
Natalie Egleton, CEO of FRRR, highlighted the significance of these grants: “Thanks to our long-standing partnership with ANZ, we are able to fund projects that we know will make a big difference to small communities." She emphasized that recent challenges such as droughts, fires, floods, and COVID-19 have strained community resources. The grants aim to provide necessary support for improving environmental conditions and financial wellbeing while addressing social issues.
Since its inception in 2003, ANZ Seeds of Renewal has allocated $5.25 million across over 800 initiatives. This year's funded projects include:
- Agrifood Industry Training Advisory Body Ltd in Coffs Harbour, NSW received $12,100 for a Bee Futures Environmental and Food Security Showcase aimed at educating students on bee propagation careers.
