The Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) has announced the appointment of Jeff Smith to its Board as a Non-Executive Director, effective from August 1, 2022. This decision is pending regulatory approval.
Jeff Smith brings extensive experience in global business and technology, having held the position of Chief Information Officer at IBM, Suncorp, and Telstra. Since 2017, he has been serving as the Chief Operating Officer of World Fuel Services Corporation in Florida, a role he will vacate by the end of 2022. Additionally, Smith is a non-executive director at Sonrai Security Inc. and advises the boards of Zoom Video Communications, Inc. and Box, Inc. He was also part of ANZ’s International Technology and Digital Business Advisory Panel until 2019.
Paul O’Sullivan, Chairman of ANZ, expressed confidence in Smith's capabilities: “Jeff’s vast experience with technology and executive management will complement the Board and I am confident he will provide valuable service to both the organisation and to ANZ’s shareholders as we continue through a period of significant transformation.”
Smith is expected to stand for election as a Director during ANZ’s Annual General Meeting on December 15, 2022. He plans to divide his time between Australia and the United States.
