ANZ has been recognized as the top lead institutional bank for the seventh consecutive year. The acknowledgment comes from the 2022 Peter Lee Associates Large Corporate and Institutional Relationship Banking Survey in Australia, which found that most of the 603 large Australian corporations surveyed consider ANZ their primary relationship bank.
The survey also highlighted ANZ's leadership in ESG and sustainable finance for the second consecutive year. Additionally, ANZ was ranked first in understanding industry knowledge and client funding needs.
Tammy Medard, ANZ Managing Director Institutional Australia & PNG, commented on this achievement: “Through the pandemic our customers needed to know that their bank was there for them. We were able to give them certainty in a time of significant uncertainty, and this year's results tell us that they value us most for that capability.”
Medard added, “It’s particularly pleasing to once again be recognised as a market leader in the increasingly important areas of ESG and sustainable finance. ESG is a megatrend in banking and we’re encouraged to see our clients say they value our analysis, advisory and solutions in this space. That said, it’s a competitive market and we are always striving to improve.”
ANZ's institutional highlights include being number one in various categories since different years such as lead bank penetration since 2016, overall market penetration since 2016, most dependable and reliable for funding since 2016, among others.
The Peter Lee Associates survey serves as an indicator of performance across wholesale banking within Australia. It involved 603 large corporations and financial institutions with annual turnovers exceeding $A500 million.
