ANZ has announced the expansion of its Return to Work program for 2023, offering over 70 new employment opportunities. The initiative, which began in 2019, aims to help individuals who have taken a career break or been underemployed to re-enter the workforce. This year, the program extends beyond technology roles to include traditional banking positions.

Jenefer Stewart, ANZ General Manager Business Banking, stated: “We know that diversity in the workforce leads to better business outcomes and the Return to Work program is a great way for us to attract talent from different backgrounds and skill sets.” She noted that since its inception, the program has achieved an 80 percent retention rate among participants.

Research by ANZ indicates a significant rise in female workforce participation since the pandemic's onset. Catherine Birch, ANZ Senior Economist, commented: “Women with caring commitments have disproportionately benefited from the shift to flexible working arrangements as these can reduce barriers to their participation in the workforce.”

The Return to Work program emphasizes flexibility and offers learning and mentoring opportunities. Positions are available in Australia, India, New Zealand, and for the first time, the Philippines. Applications open on March 8 and are available to those with relevant experience who have had a career break or been underemployed for at least two years.

The program provides a structured support system including induction programs, ongoing development opportunities, and a network of mentors and peers.
