ANZ has announced the opening of applications for its Community Foundation program, marking the 36th year of the initiative. Charitable organizations across Australia are invited to apply for grants of up to $30,000.
The ANZ Community Foundation relies on regular matched donations from ANZ staff to provide these grants. The aim is to support small yet impactful charities that focus on financial wellbeing, housing, environmental sustainability, and other community-supporting initiatives.
In 2022, the foundation awarded $389,450 to 19 community organizations. Since its inception, more than $6.3 million has been distributed to 920 community organizations throughout Australia.
This year's grants will target projects in several key areas: improving financial wellbeing for under-represented and disadvantaged groups by enhancing economic participation through financial literacy and vocational skills; promoting environmental sustainability by restoring natural environments and reducing carbon emissions; increasing housing access for those at risk of homelessness or living with disabilities; and supporting other local community projects.
Christine Linden, Chair of the ANZ Community Foundation, stated: “It’s my first year as Chair, and I’m really excited to be launching our 36th year of Community Grants.” She added that these grants can significantly impact small charities working within local communities.
ANZ employees contribute financially to the foundation with every dollar being double matched by ANZ itself. This tripling effect amplifies their collective impact on communities.
Grant recipients are selected by a National Advisory Board and State Committees composed of ANZ employees annually. Applications are open until midnight on April 11, 2023. More information can be found by visiting Equity Trustees.
