The BlackRock Foundation has announced a $4 million philanthropic grant to The Commit Partnership and Education is Freedom (EIF) in Dallas County. This funding aims to enhance college and career readiness for over 31,000 students in the area over the next two years, with a goal of increasing high school graduation rates to 87% by 2028.

The Commit Partnership collaborates with various entities, including educational institutions and nonprofits, to improve educational outcomes in Dallas County. With BlackRock's support, Commit will work alongside EIF to provide more pathways towards high-demand jobs. Claire Chamberlain of The BlackRock Foundation stated that empowering the next generation workforce is crucial for economic security.

EIF currently serves more than 19,000 students across several districts and plans to expand its reach with this grant. It will also partner with Dallas County Promise to assist students during their postsecondary transition.

Susanna Russell of EIF expressed that the grant would be transformational for both the organization and the students they serve. Todd Williams from Commit highlighted that Texas has a unique opportunity due to recent student-centered policies which could lead to significant additional funding for local educational institutions.

This initiative is part of BlackRock’s broader effort to promote economic security across the United States. Since 2019, BlackRock has invested $35 million globally in efforts aimed at improving economic mobility and financial stability.
