The World Bank has organized a series of events at the COP16 conference on biodiversity, scheduled to take place in Cali, Colombia from October 21 to November 1, 2024. The events will occur primarily in the Blue Zone and will follow Colombia time (COT - UTC/GMT -5 hours).

Among the scheduled activities is "Open Data for Biodiversity: Accelerating Monitoring and Action," which will be held in partnership with EBRD at the MDB Pavilion, Plaza One. Another key event is "Scaling up Finance for Biodiversity" at the Amazonia Forever Pavilion.

"Innovative Approaches for Mainstreaming Nature in Policies and Investments" will take place in collaboration with IFC and MIGA, while "Project: Mainstreaming Nature in Policy and Investment Decisions" involves partners like ADB, IDB, and Stanford University.

The agenda includes discussions on restoration with "Scaling up Restoration: Enhancing Ecosystems and Building Resilience," partnered with CDB. Additionally, "Evolving Solutions to Evolving Challenges: The Global Wildlife Program (GWP) Experience" will share insights into global wildlife management efforts.

A session titled "Deforestation Free Regulation: Opportunities for Biodiversity Conservation and Challenges Ahead for Implementation" aims to address regulatory challenges. Meanwhile, solutions to human-wildlife conflicts are explored through a program supported by various organizations including TRAFFIC and WWF.

Other notable events include "Accelerating Nature-based Solutions," an official CBD side event about the Amazon Sustainable Landscapes Program (ASL), and discussions on technology integration into biodiversity management.

Significant days such as "Forests and Water Day," backed by PROGREEN, focus on environmental themes across different pavilions. Topics range from social innovations in biodiversity to finance-related symposiums aimed at fostering sustainable investments.

The conference also hosts dialogues about urban nature conservation involving entities like UNEP and ICLEI. Various sessions explore financial systems' role in achieving GBF targets alongside collaborations with institutions like C3A Coalition.

Finally, important discussions around illegal gold mining impacts within the Amazon conclude this comprehensive lineup of events designed to promote biodiversity conservation globally.
