The World Bank has released its schedule of events for the 16th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP16), taking place in Cali, Colombia. The series of events will span from October 21 to October 31, focusing on various themes related to biodiversity, finance, and sustainable development.

On Monday, October 21, discussions will begin with "Ocean of Opportunities: How the Blue Economy can Drive the Global Biodiversity Framework Success" at MDB Pavilion. The following day features multiple sessions including "Open Data for Biodiversity: Accelerating Monitoring and Action" in partnership with EBRD and "Scaling up Finance for Biodiversity" at Amazonia Forever Pavilion.

Wednesday's agenda includes a session on "Scaling up Landscape Restoration: Enhancing Ecosystems and Building Resilience," conducted in partnership with CDB. On Thursday, an official CBD side event titled "Amazon Sustainable Landscapes Program (ASL): Results and Lessons after 10 Years" will take place at Nuqui Room.

The week continues with significant sessions such as "Forests and Water Day," supported by the World Bank through PROGREEN on Friday. A variety of topics will be addressed over the weekend including a Mayors Forum focused on urban nature and biodiversity.

Into the next week, Monday features a full-day event named "Finance and Biodiversity Day," along with several other discussions aimed at achieving GBF targets through financial system reforms. Tuesday highlights include a session on understanding nature-related financial risks held at MDB Pavilion.

The conference concludes with sessions on Wednesday and Thursday covering subjects like scaling finance for global restoration agendas and tackling illegal gold mining impacts in the Amazon.
