As part of the Bretton Woods at 80 Initiative, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group will host a high-level retreat in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, on September 26-27, 2024.

The two-day event will follow Chatham House Rules and gather a diverse group of global thinkers. Participants include individuals prominent in history, international relations, political science, finance, and business. The retreat takes place at the site of the 1944 United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference.

Patrick Achi, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, and Mark Malloch-Brown serve as External Advisors to the Bretton Woods at 80 Initiative and will guide discussions during the event.

Senior management from both institutions will attend, including IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and World Bank President Ajay Banga.

The retreat aims to facilitate discussions on the future shape of the world economy over the next 20-30 years. Topics include how multilateralism may evolve and how both organizations can support stability and progress on a livable planet.

This event is part of ongoing consultations with IMF and World Bank stakeholders led by External Advisors over the coming months.
