La Paz, July 1, 2024 – Camille Nuamah has assumed the role of World Bank Group Country Manager for Bolivia. This position aims to unify country-level leadership across the institution to better support Bolivia’s public and private sector priorities. The new role provides a single point of contact for accessing the full range of World Bank Group products and services, enhancing the institution's ability to address global challenges and drive development with increased speed, efficiency, and impact.
The introduction of joint country representation is a significant step towards strengthening the World Bank Group. Bolivia is among 21 offices transitioning to a single World Bank Group Country Manager or Resident Representative for the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), International Development Association (IDA), International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).
“Bolivia experienced notable success in reducing poverty and inequality but faces remaining challenges ranging from climate resilience to enhancing competitiveness and generating quality jobs,” said Camille Nuamah, World Bank Group Country Manager for Bolivia. “Unified Bank Group leadership will improve our speed and make us a better partner to the government, the private sector, and ultimately the people we serve.”
The World Bank Group remains committed to supporting Bolivia in improving its citizens' lives by enhancing climate and economic resilience, increasing income for vulnerable households, and expanding access to quality public services. The current financing portfolio focuses on transport, rural development and agriculture, urban resilience, energy, and water sectors. Additionally, the WBG will continue exploring opportunities with financial intermediaries aimed at fostering climate finance and financial inclusion—particularly focusing on women—and financing foreign trade operations among other areas involving the private sector.
Since joining the World Bank in 1997, Camille Nuamah has held various roles including Operations Manager for Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Uganda; Advisor in Latin America & Caribbean as well as Europe & Central Asia regions; Country Manager in Albania; Nicaragua; Zimbabwe. A Jamaican national with an industrial organization economist background from Columbia University, University of Cambridge, New York University.
