Warsaw, July 1, 2024 – Ary Naїm has been appointed as the World Bank Group Country Manager for Poland, a newly created position aimed at unifying country-level leadership across the institution. This role is designed to enhance support for Poland’s public and private sector priorities by providing a single point of contact for access to the full range of World Bank Group products and services.

"After decades of development success, and within a more challenging global context, Poland has an opportunity to push the innovation frontier, advance to the next stage of productivity growth, and achieve convergence with the highest EU living standards," said Ary Naїm. "In this new phase, the World Bank Group Joint Representation will strengthen our partnership with the government, the private sector, and ultimately the Polish people."

The World Bank Group in Poland aims to support various initiatives including improving air quality and energy efficiency in single-family buildings, developing a long-term care system, drafting a new state purchasing strategy, and enhancing flood and drought prevention measures. The forthcoming Country Partnership Framework will reflect this unified approach and focus on delivering high-value-added projects that support global public goods creation, boost private capital mobilization, catalyze green innovation, and increase economic resilience.

Ary Naїm is a French national with a background in commercial banking in France and Morocco before joining IFC in 2003. His previous roles include IFC Country Head for Haiti and the Dominican Republic, IFC Country Manager for Mexico, and IFC Regional Manager for Central and Southeast Europe.

The introduction of joint country representation marks an important step towards building a stronger World Bank Group. Poland is one of 21 offices transitioning to a single Country Manager or Resident Representative overseeing IBRD, IDA, IFC, and MIGA operations.

The World Bank Group operates globally with a mission to create a world free of poverty on a livable planet. It provides financing, advice, and innovative solutions across more than 100 countries. The group includes IBRD; IDA; IFC; MIGA; and ICSID.
