The World Bank’s Enterprise Analysis Unit is currently collecting data to gather feedback from private sector enterprises on the state of the business environment among firms in Malaysia. This initiative is part of the World Bank Enterprise Surveys and will run from March to November 2024.

The collected information aims to provide crucial insights into the dynamics of the business environment in emerging economies. The survey was last conducted in Malaysia in 2019 under the name Malaysia Productivity and Investment Climate – 3 (PICS3). For 2023-2024, the Enterprise Survey will be administered to nearly 40,000 enterprises across more than 60 countries. These surveys will complement existing data covering 155 countries and will also contribute to the new Business Ready (B-READY) project by the World Bank.

Ipsos Malaysia, selected through a competitive process by the World Bank, will conduct this survey targeting owners and managers of companies throughout Malaysia. The survey can be completed either face-to-face or via video conference, with each interview lasting approximately 50 minutes. All responses are anonymous, ensuring that neither individual nor firm identities are disclosed or published.

For more information about participation, interested parties can contact William Soh at ysoh@worldbank.org.

Business Ready (B-READY) is a new flagship report by the World Bank that benchmarks business environments and investment climates globally. The report evaluates regulatory frameworks and public services directed at firms, as well as their practical efficiency. By providing comparable data across economies and over time, B-READY offers actionable evidence to support reforms aimed at strengthening the private sector.

The inaugural B-READY report is scheduled for release on September 25, 2024.
