The completion of a dual, digital, and green transformation in the European Union and the increase in the productivity of EU companies will depend on the broad implementation and productive use of digital tools by enterprises. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the digitization of companies but also deepened the gap between the most and least digitized companies. From the perspective of the entire economy, this poses a threat to the successful transformation. In an environment where digital technologies are becoming increasingly available, the key to effective digitization is companies' ability to make efficient use of technology.

"The Digitrans project aims to address this challenge by designing, piloting, and evaluating an effective tool to increase the productivity of companies. This growth would be based on the implementation of digital solutions and the introduction of appropriate managerial and organizational practices."

The future competitiveness of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) will depend on their ability to adopt and utilize new technologies. World Bank research points to the growing importance of companies' ability to choose the right technologies and use them effectively. Implementing technology without building the necessary know-how results in shallow digitization. This challenge is particularly evident in the case of MSMEs. Due to limited resources, these companies often delay digitization and do not fully leverage the potential of new technologies. Behavioral, organizational, and information-related challenges stand in the way.
